An Imitation of the Sacred Art of the Ori 〰️

Inspired by Laolu and his powerful use of Adinkra symbols, Yoruba myths, and storytelling through iconography, I wanted to do something similar—using these same elements to tell the stories of others, while connecting them to their Yoruba heritage. Each person I photographed was painted and designed by me, and every session—spanning the conversation, design, painting, and photography—took about 7 hours from start to finish. It’s a deeply personal and immersive process that brings each individual’s story to life.
